Kayla joined Omega Funds in 2026. She is based in Boston and focuses on healthcare venture investments across therapeutic areas. Kayla has more than a decade of experience as a drug developer and company builder, working on small molecules, biologics, and siRNA. She is trained as both a clinical pharmacologist and discovery scientist, with deep expertise in translational medicine and model-informed drug development.
Prior to joining Omega, Kayla spent two years in a fractional company creation role at Third Rock Ventures, contributing to the formation of two stealth companies. She also simultaneously worked as a Scientific Program Leader at the Gates Medical Research Institute for 7 years, leading programs from discovery through clinical POC. Earlier in her career, she served concurrently on the Quantitative Sciences team at Gates Foundation driving data driven decision making across Program Strategy Team investments and as Associate Director of Clinical Pharmacology at Cognigen (Simulations Plus), where she built a global health department while earning her PhD part-time. She started her career as a pharmacist, gaining experience in both retail (Rite Aid) and clinical practice (Cleveland Clinic).
Kayla earned her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Buffalo, where her doctoral research focused on applying pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic modeling and simulation to redesign clinical trial approaches for small molecules. Kayla also holds a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and a Masters of Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University at Buffalo.
